PMQ: Ongoing Dissonance between Johnson and Starmer

The PMQ this week was marked by continued dissonance in the House of Commons. Leader of the Opposition, Keir Starmer, addressed problems arisen as a result of the government’s delayed response to and premature claim to victory over COVID-19. As the Prime Minister prepares to release lockdown restrictions, Starmer expressed his fear toward reopening without clear data for local authorities or the “world beating” track and trace system Johnson promised to deliver. The Labour leader stated that while he does support the easing of restrictions, he’s “not blind to the risks” like the Prime Minister.

The PMQ then moved into questions from SNP Leader in the House of Commons, Ian Blackford, and other MPs from around the UK.
