Liberty Expose: How Republican Need To Be Strategic In Gaming Political Issues

Chris Clor

There is an art to being effective in the field of politics. It is not so much about the ideas as it is about people, relationships, strategy, and being in the right place at the right time. It's almost impossible to be effective unless you have massive support from the public to help push policy. The media and the Democratic Party have the ability to paint issues in a way that makes them seem to have a majority of American support on almost every issue. The public is often made to believe issues are one way when, in actuality, they are another.

By strategic messaging, you can gain majority support on almost any issue facing the United States. To be able to pass policy, one needs as much support from the public as possible. There is art in changing the political perspective of the public. Each major issue can be reframed in a way where there is a vast majority of public support. This will make the lives of conservationists much easier.

There is a particular way to frame questions and issues that will give political officials the support that they need in order to push their agendas. The American public is often more conservative than I would be led to believe; it just requires asking the right questions.

The vast majority of Americans are not, in fact, as radical as some would like us to be. The people are, in fact, desperate for a return to normalcy. They also have thoughts and reasons behind their political opinions. What is not being utilized is the fact that Americans are vastly more conservative by nature when compared to the extremism adopted by the left.

A perfect example of how this could be put into practice is America’s opinion on illegal immigration. When Americans are asked, “Do you think the United States should allow immigrants into the country?” Most Americans strongly agree with that statement. And so, the Democrats use this argument to push for more immigration. In actuality, the same tactic can be used in reverse. Back when the United States was averaging 100 thousand illegal immigrants per month, 90 percent of Republicans believed this was too many, as well as 26% of Democrats. 36% of Democrats believed it should stay the same. The United States is now taking in an excess of 10 thousand illegal immigrants per day, or 300,000 per month. This does not take into consideration legal immigrants. Based on these statistics, 62 percent of Democrats would support lowering the number of immigrants. With the support of the Republicans,  76 percent of Americans are now in favor of decreasing our current level of immigration. Be asking a question in a different way: what would seem like a losing issue for Republicans and be turned into a winning win if they ran, and this issue of lowering the level of immigration entering the country.

Take abortion as another issue. A majority of Americans believe that there are instances where abortion is justified. It is also true that the majority of Americans are not in favor of a certain type of abortion. An even smaller number are in favor of third-trimester abortion. The supports are somewhere in the middle. The way to differentiate is by going through and dividing things by each week of a pregnancy. 73% of people think that it should be allowed within the first 6 weeks, and the number decreases the further all of you get into pregnancies. This mirrors some of the legislation passed in states like Florida that passed a 6-week abortion ban. It may not be perfect, but it is the best that can be done for the moment.

This is a compromise Republicans are going to have to make. It is not the immediate end of all abortions; however, it will further the cause of the Republic in the long run. It is very easy to stand on your sofa box and demand change, and moving to a complete abortion ban is a gradual process. But taking a step in the right direction is better than nothing at all, which is what happens when Republicans move too hard and too fast. This will also allow you to avoid any intense backlash from the media or the Democratic Party. This strategy is something the Left has mastered. By taking a couple little steps at a time, eventually they accumulate, and you get everything that you wanted. It just takes time.

This method can be used with any topic. Healthcare, crime, education, and the economy are all ranked as some of the top issues for Americans. They too can be structured in a way to make a more conservative argument that will garner the reach needed for Republicans to gain the support of the people. They have to be specific. When describing issues, quantify them into something everyone can recognize. The supporters are there, but only if conservatives begin changing the nature of the discussion to express the truth of each political situation. The path of least resistance is to always have a majority coalition of Americans.

Being an effective politician is an impossible task without a movement behind you. Regardless of their affiliation, they are pushing policies that either do not have the support of the American people or are too extreme. The strategy of focusing on or framing issues that will garner massive support is something that Republicans in particular have an opportunity to utilize.

Change the wording, ask different questions, and don't accept the premise of stupid questions. The American people are far too tolerant of the radical left. They are desperate for a reason, and the conservatives can give it to them if they implement the right strategies. Untimely, this will lead to more wins for the Republican Party and progression forward with conservative ideas.
