Millennial Money:Living On $226K A Year In San Francisco

Shan Shan Fu, 33, lives in San Francisco, California, and makes $226,000 per year running her own business. She currently runs Millennial In Motions, a business dedicated to selling face masks, neck gaiters, and socks.

She started the company in April of 2020 while she worked at a tech company. After seven months of work, she quit her job and focused solely on her business.

Her monthly budget is $35,035. A lot of it is due to the rent in San Francisco as it is typically high. However, she found the best way to save money is to avoid expensive tastes.

Her father gave her advice on how to be generous with money.

“If somebody gives you a dollar, then give ten dollars back,” she said. She wants to see how money makes people generous and how to share it with others.

Fu grew up in a small village in China with her grandparents. She did not have any electricity or plumbing. She moved to the United States when she was six, and then to Canada at eight.
